7,700 Kicked out of Communist Party in Jiangxi Province

A total of 7,700 unqualified members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in East China's Jiangxi Province have been stripped of their status this year, for dereliction of duty and corruption.

The number accounts for 4.75 per thousand of all the Party members in the province. Some of the Party members were eliminated for wrongdoing, while others were persuaded to leave Party for failing to achieve merits on their posts.

It said the move could clean up the Party by discharging the corrupt and non-performing members.

For those who have realized their problems and are willing to improve in their works, local Party organizations will issue them a warning so that they could rectify their misdeeds.

Since the end of 1998, Jiangxi has carried out pilot experiment of meriting Party members in its Zhangshu, Xiushui and Guangchang prefectures.
