Chinese Defense Minister Meets DPRK Guests

Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Thursday, December 7, with An Yong Ji, director of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of Ministry of the People's Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, recalled his visit to the DPRK in October. He said that the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK has been tested by history.

He said the leaders of the two countries have attached importance to Sino-DPRK friendship, and the expansion of friendly relations between the two states and armed forces will play an important role in improving socialism and safeguarding regional peace.

An Yong Ji said the traditional friendship between the people and armed forces of China and the DPRK has been forged by the leaders of the old generation, and comrade Kim Jong Il and the Workers' Party of the DPRK value the friendly relations between the DPRK and China, and will continue to make efforts in this regard.
