ROK IT Companies Show Interest in South China City

Representatives of 50 IT enterprises of the Republic of Korea (ROK) have shown their interest in an exchange meeting to be held in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province, from December 19 to 21.

At the meeting, the representatives will exchange views, negotiate business with local IT companies and inspect the software investment environment in Guangzhou.

Lin Yuanhe, vice-mayor of Guangzhou, said there are more than 1,000 companies in Guangzhou engaged in the software business. Last year, total revenues created by these software companies accounted for over 10 percent of the national software market.

Experts predict that Guangzhou, with its active IT industry market, comparatively relaxed investment environment and its geographic position of bordering Macao and Hong Kong, will be another Chinese city on which ROK IT companies concentrate their investment.

ROK software companies have started up 65 projects in Zhongguancun, the high-tech zone in northwestern Beijing.
