Zhang Weiping Awarded Mathematics Prize of TWAS

President of TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences) has sent a notice to Zhang Weiping, a young Chinese mathematics scientist of Nankai University for congratulating him on winning TWAS 2000 Award in Mathematics.

The committee meeting of TWAS which was held in Teheran, capital of Iran, has granted him TWAS 2000 Award in Mathematics for his various contributions to index theory, including joint works with Bismut on Ray-Singer analytic torsions and with Youliang Tian on the geometric quantization conjecture, and his recent work on the Kervaire semi-characteristic.

Zhang Weiping, known as world-renowned math scientist, is also one of the most outstanding young scientists in China's mathematics field. So far, it has seen more than 30 of his essays published in academic periodicals domestic and foreign.
