Huge Ship Lock Gates Begin to Be Attached in Yangtze River

A huge pair of gates for a permanent ship lock in the Three Gorges Project in central Hubei Province began to be attached on 6th.��

The gates are 38.5 meters high by 20.2 meters wide, with each gate weighing 804 tons.��

The attachment of the gates is expected to be completed by June next year and the ship lock is scheduled to open to traffic by 2003.��
