US Says Holds "Frank" Talks with Russia on Arms Sales to Iran

The United States on Wednesday, December 6, described talks between US and Russian defense experts on arms sales to Iran as "full, frank and comprehensive."

The talks, starting on Wednesday in Moscow, was called after Russia announced last month its decision to renew arms negotiations with Teheran, and Washington said it was concerned about the arms sales.

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters that the talks "were full, frank and comprehensive."

"Discussions concentrated on conventional arms sales, including sales to Iran, and they will continue tomorrow, December 7," Boucher added. He said he did not know how long the talks would last.

The US delegation was led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Nonproliferation Controls John Baker.
