Xinjiang Holds First Automobile Show
The first automobile show in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is going on this week in its capital of Urumqi City, with presence of 35 auto-makers across China.

On display were more than 1,200 automobiles in 150 varieties. Economy-priced brands, such as Alto and Chang'an, attracting a large crowds.

The automobile show offers a wide choice for car buyers in Xinjiang and northwest China.

A manager of the Shanghai Automobile industry Co. said Xinjiang has great potential in automobile sales due to improving highway facilities and stronger purchasing power by local residents.

At present, 15,000 individuals in Xinjiang have purchased their own cars. A recent sample survey showed that half of the people surveyed are planning for purchasing cars.
