Senior Police Officers of Guangdong, Macao Hold Meeting

Police forces in China's Guangdong Province and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will make more concerted efforts to ensure safety celebrations around December 20, the first anniversary of the founding of the SAR.

The consensus was made Wednesday, December 6, by Liang Guoju, director of the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, and Cheong Kuoc Va, secretary for security of the Macao SAR government.

Heading their respective delegations, the two senior officers met here to notify each other about the current public security conditions.

In addition, they discussed further cooperation in combating against trans-border crimes and illegal emigration, and in fire-fighting and personnel training.

It was the second meeting of Guangdong and Macao police authorities since Macao's return to the motherland. The first one was held in Guangzhou City in June this year.

There had been 33 similar meetings since 1982 before the establishment of the Macao SAR.
