Macao SAR Govt Provides Troops with Permanent Barracks

The government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China has decided to grant two pieces of land to the Chinese troops stationed in Macao.

A related administrative decree was passed by the Executive Council of the Macao SAR here Wednesday, said Tong Chi Kin, spokesman for the Executive Council.

One piece of the land, which covers 5,596 sq. m, is located in the Macao peninsula and being used as a provisional barracks of the troops. The other piece covering 42,018 sq. m is in the Taipa Island of Macao.

The decree will soon be promulgated in the Government Gazette and go into effect the next day of publication.

The expenditure on building barracks will be undertaken by the central government, Tong Chi Kin said.
