Guizhou to Build World Largest Radio Telescope

Chinese scientists' plan to build a largest radio telescope in the world has attracted the attention of the international astronomic circle.

The huge radio telescope, 500 meter in diameter and in the shape of a pot-type satellite antenna, is made up of 2,000 pieces of baffle-boards, each of which is 15 square meters large. The project has to be built in a low-lying land of a lava terrain in southern Guizhou Province.

The project, after going through seven years of research, will require an investment of US$100-200 million. It's said to be a meter with the broadest observation scope and the longest observation distance.
