Chinese Company Develops Portuguese Version of Linux

Red Flag Software Co., one of China's Linux-based software developers, has decided to develop a Portuguese version of Linux operating system.

The company signed a relevant agreement recently with the government-funded Macao Productivity and Technology Transfer Center to jointly develop the Portuguese version.

The company has developed the Red Flag Linux, a Chinese version of the operation system which competes with Microsoft's Windows.

International computer producers like IBM and Compaq have signed agreements with the Chinese company to use Red Flag Linux.

In addition to Chinese, Portuguese is also an official language in China's Macao Special Administrative Region.
