Gala to Mark First Anniversary of Macao's Return

A grand evening party will be held in Zhuhai City, the nearest Chinese mainland city to Macao, to celebrate the first anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland on December 16.

Entitled "Hello, Macao", the gala will be jointly hosted by the department of publicity from the Zhuhai City Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the department of publicity and cultural affairs from the Liaison Office of the Central Chinese Government in Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), and the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR.

A number of artists, including singers from the Chinese mainland and from Macao will perform at the function, which will be televised by television stations from Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.

In a related event, more than 2,000 shadow boxing lovers from Zhuhai, Hong Kong, Macao and other areas in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province, also gathered together in Zhuhai Sunday to perform shadow boxing to commemorate the first anniversary of Macao's return to China.
