China's Access to WTO will Promote World Economic Growth: UN Official

China's access to the World Trade Organization (WTO) is imminent, which will not only promote the growth of the world economy, but also enhance the fairness of the international trade system, a United Nations official said Monday, December 4.

China's membership in the organization is of very great significance to developing countries as they will have more say in formulating the standard of world trade and investment, said C. Margarinos, director-general of the UN Industrial Development Organization, at the Asia-Pacific Forum on Industrial Development held in China's top industrial center.

The country's accession into the WTO will also increase exports from developing countries to developed countries and help speed up the pace of economic restructuring in the developing countries, he said.

When China joins WTO, its domestic market will be fully open, which will make it easier for products to enter the market, he noted.
