Gore Calls On Supporters to Accept Presidential OutcomeThe US Vice-President, Al Gore, has spoken about the prospect that the legal process for the presidency may go against him, according to an Australian press report at 5:18 PM AEDT, Dec 4 2000.In a television interview, Mr Gore says he hopes and expects Democrat supporters to unite behind whoever eventually becomes president. "On January 20th, if the person standing up before the capital taking the oath of office is George Bush and not me, he will be sworn in as my president too," he said. "And I will spare no efforts in saying to people who supported me, let's not have any talk about stealing the election." Meanwhile, the Republican Party has renewed its pressure on Mr Gore to accept defeat but Mr Gore's team says it is too early to think about conceding. The Democrats hopes rest on the outcome of a court case in the Florida Circuit Court, where a judge is being asked to authorise further recounts in two counties. The judge is expected to make a ruling in about 12 hours. |
