Cambodia's National Assembly ratified a contract on the Chinese-aided hydro-power station in the country on Monday, December 4.

The project will be conducted by the Chinese Electric Power Technology Import and Export Corporation. After the hydro-power station is put into operation, it can produce 12 megawatt of power which will also be distributed to Phnom Penh residents.

The construction of the hydro-power station, located 90 kilometers southwest of Phnom Penh, will begin in early 2001 with a loan of US$20 million from China, and is scheduled to be finished by early 2003.
