9 Ports Open in Hulun Buir League

As one enters Manzhouli City, what one sees are groups of people in different skin colors, and what one hears are talks in different languages-Chinese, Russian, English and others, presenting a scene of flourishing port trade. In the first half of this year, Manzhouli's total border trade volume topped 320 million yuan, a 67.4 percent growth over the same period last year.

The Hulun Buir League, in the east part of Inner Mongolia, has a borderline of about 1,700 km. In recent years, the League has invested more than 100 million yuan in constructing the Hailar Airport, the new channel of the Manzhouli Port and other important infrastructure. It has bought water conveyance like tugboats and barges. So far, it has set up nine open ports with an annual handling capacity of 6 million tons of goods, initially forming an opening belt with a reasonable layout along the border and a new pattern of water, land and air three-dimensional opening to the outside world.
