West Plan Injects New Life into CTMThe State policy to improve the western region has provided opportunities for the development of Chinese traditional medicine (CTM).Clinical tests by Mo Shuzhen, a CTM researcher at the Beijing Tibetan Hospital, have proved that traditional medicine is effective for the treatment of sterility. The hospital is now seeking partners from home and abroad to develop the technology. Treating sterility with CTM has aroused attention from overseas executives and medical circles. A medical organization from Brazil and another from the Philippines have both showed interest in helping to develop the technology, a hospital representative said. Western China is known for its rich resources in herbal medicine. "The popularization of Chinese traditional medicine is expected to provide new opportunities for growth in the under-developed areas of China,'' he said. CTM is finding growing acceptance worldwide for its natural, effective treatment and its low side effects. About 7 per cent to 10 per cent of couples in the world suffer from sterility, show statistics. Traditional sterility medicines are expected to enjoy a broad market in both China and foreign countries, the representative said. Source: China Daily
