Hong Kong Holds Fight Crime Conference

The Fight Crime Conference was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center Saturday, December 2, attended by more than 400 Fight Crime Committee (FCC) and District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) members.

Organized by FCC, the biennial conference was aimed at encouraging community participation in the fight against crime.

The theme of this year's conference is "Participation in the new millenium for fighting crime", which highlights the importance of concerted efforts of all parties in the fight against crime in the 21st century.

The conference also served to reinforce communication between the FCC and the DFCC, and to provide a forum for exchanging views on ways to reduce crime.

Five groups comprising members of DFCC held separate sessions prior to the conference to discuss a wide range of fight crime subjects, which included the combat of youth crime, commercial crime, protection of individuals against quick cash crime, domestic violence and building security.

Tung Chee Hwa, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, officiated the conference.
