Vice President Hu Jintao Urges Party Building
A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged CPC committees at different levels to build the Party well so as to improve its capabilities to lead the country.

Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the remarks at a closing ceremony of a training course for provincial Party leaders of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee on Friday, December 1.

Hu, who is also president of the school, talked about the Central Economic Working Conference that ended recently and said that efforts should be made in Party building to ensure a sound foundation for the country's fulfillment of the 10th five-year plan (2001-2005).

In his speech, Hu urged the whole Party to arm themselves with Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, and in particular, Deng Xiaoping Theory.

The Party, in a period of transition from the elder to the younger generations, should try to build a contingent of high-quality cadres who are compliant to the new situation and tasks of the new century, according to the Party official.

Referring to the current anti-corruption campaign, Hu pledged to exert greater efforts to prevent and control corruption at the source through reform.
