UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution on Jerusalem
The 55th Session of the United Nations General Assembly determined December 1 that the decision of Israel to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the Holy City of Jerusalem is illegal and therefore null and void.
A resolution adopted by the General Assembly with a 145 in favor, one against and five abstentions, deplores the transfer by some states of their diplomatic missions to Jerusalem in violation of Security Council resolution 478 and their refusal to comply with the provisions of that resolution.
It calls once more on those states to abide by the provisions of the relevant UN resolutions, and requests the UN secretary-general to report to the General Assembly at its 56th session on the implementation of the present resolution.
The Security Council resolution 478, adopted in 1980, calls on the countries in the world not to move their embassies to Jerusalem.
