Sichuan Province Has Five First Rankings in Natural Gas

Southwest China's Sichuan Province has five first rankings in the country in terms of natural gas.

By the end of 1999, the natural gas fields in the Sichuan Basin had reserves verified at 718.7 billion cubic meters, ranking first in China. Sichuan had the exploitable natural gas deposits estimated at 285.4 billion cubic meters, ranking first in China. It pumped out nine billion cubic meters in 1999, ranking first in the country.

The province ranks first in China in terms of the ratio of natural gas to energy production, which stands at 15.7 percent. It also ranks first in China in terms of the ratio of natural gas to energy consumption, which hits 15.9 percent.
