Paleolithic Site Unearthed in East China

A Paleolithic site dating back about 200,000 years was recently unearthed in grottoes in east China's Fujian province.

Located in two grottoes in Sanming city in west Fujian province, the site covered a total area of 1,200 square meters.

Over 800 stone pieces, a small number of bone pieces and some 20 animal fossils were found, some of which belong to the period some 185,000 years ago.

A stone-paved surface found in one of the grottoes was considered a rarity even around the world.

Archaeologists believed that further excavation of the site will bring out more discoveries.
