Scientists Call for Development of Photoelectron Technology

Chinese scientists specializing in photoelectron technology Thursday called for increased investment in research, development and commercialization of the vital technology.

The call was made by experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qinghua University and other research institutions at a forum, titled Outlook on Photoelectron Technology in the 21st Century.

They said the technology is of vital importance for the development of the information industry, cutting-edge electronic consumer goods and high-tech warfare.

Despite rapid progress in the field in the past decade, China should continue to give priority to the research, development and commercialization of the technology, they said.

The one-day forum was organized by the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
