Cathay Pacific Launches Door-to-Door Express ServiceCathay Pacific Airways launched its first door-to-door express service Thursday, November 30, to compete in the retail express service market of Hong Kong. The new service, known as RPX, short for retail parcel express, will attract customers with Cathay's edge in broad transportation network and its good reputation in Hong Kong, according to Cathay Pacific's General Manager Cargo Kenny Tang. RPX can deliver small items like documents, commercial prototypes and gifts, which is different from other cargo services of Cathay Pacific. The service is provided in three tiers. The platinum one, targeting mission critical shipments, currently covers 42 destinations with staff available round-the-clock to accompany the cargo on a flight and the fastest possible mode of transportation is used at each end. The gold tier is a same day service to 15 major cities with Asia and North America, but does not provide the personal accompanying service. The silver one is aimed at everyday shipments which do not need the speed of the platinum and gold tiers, but nonetheless require convenient, reliable global delivery at value-for-money prices, said Tang.
