10,000 Migratory Birds to Spend Winter in Sanjiang Plain in NE China

Flocks of winter migratory birds which live in Russia's Siberia in spring and autumn, have arrived in the Sanjiang Plain Wetland Nature Reserve in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province.

An estimated 10,000 such birds will spend winter in the reserve.

The patrolmen in the reserve observed that these new-comers had been greeted as guests by the birds living there permanently.

According to researchers, the reserve is located in the north temperate zone. Every year these migratory birds fly and spend winter there. They live mainly on barks and grass seeds. They are expected to fly back to Siberia next March and April.
