NZ Governor-General Meets Top Chinese Judge

New Zealand's Governor-General Michael Hardie Boys met with President of China's Supreme People's Court Xiao Yang Thursday, November 30.

During the meeting, both sides expressed the willingness to strengthen cooperation between judicial departments in the two countries.

Boys arrived Thursday morning on a seven-day state visit to China, at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

The visit, the first ever state visit to China by a governor-general of New Zealand, reciprocates the visit by President Jiang to New Zealand in September last year.

Boys had once been appointed a judge of the High Court and to the Court of Appeal.
