Guangdong's Floral Imports Register Fast Increase

Customs' Statistics in the first ten months of this year show that Guangdong already claimed a floral import amount worth of US$4.433m, an increase of 40.7% over the same period last year.

As were told by statistics, the imports were for the most part concentrated in areas of economically developed southeast Guangdong, centering on provincial capital Guangzhou. Guangzhou had a floral import amount worth of US$1.205m, accounting for 27.2% of the provincial total. In some developed areas like Zhuhai, a total worth of US$2.05m or 46.2% of floral imports were reported.

Guangdong had superior species of floral imports mainly from Asian growers and those of EU, which had come to a worth of US$3.275m, or 73.9% of its import total. This is especially so with those of Taiwan who have had a lion's share of these amounting to US$2.431m.

Floral imports by Guangdong had been used chiefly to a greenery purpose in cities, to meet a growing market demand for improved quality species, and the demand to enrich the province's floral species and gardening with superior improved varieties.
