International Advisers to Outline HK's Future Development

The Hong Kong Chief Executive's Council of International Advisers, comprising prominent international business and corporate leaders, will hold its third meeting November 30, a government spokesman said on November 29.

The council members will discuss the economic outlook in 2001, opportunities and challenges for Hong Kong after China's accession to the World Trade Organization and the strategy for Hong Kong's development.

"We are very pleased to have the expert views of the advisers from an international perspective on strategic issues pertinent to the long-term development of Hong Kong," the spokesman said.

"In particular, they will give advice on how global and regional trends might affect Hong Kong's development and how the international business community perceives Hong Kong's plans and programs of activities."

The advisers will also be invited to advise on what measures Hong Kong should take to enhance its role as a world-class commercial and financial center and as a dynamic special administrative region of China under the concept of "one country, two systems."
