UAE, Egyptian Presidents Discuss Mideast Peace ProcessPresident of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan held talks with his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak Wednesday on the latest developments in the stumbling Middle East peace process.During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ways to revive the peace process with an aim to reach a fair and comprehensive peace in the region, UAE's official WAM news agency reported. The talks also dealt with the current situation in the Palestinian territories and necessity of providing international protection to the Palestinian people, who have been suffering mounting casualties during the two-month bloody clashes with Israeli troops. Also Wednesday, Sheikh Zayed met separately with Bahraini Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa al-Khalifa and Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, the news agency said. Mubarak, Sheikh Hamad and Sabah congratulated Sheikh Zayed on the recovery from a kidney transplant operation in the United States. The 82-year-old UAE president returned home Sunday after undergoing the operation in August. Sheikh Zayed, who has been president since the UAE comprising seven emirates was formed 34 years ago, guided his country's transformation from a largely Bedouin society to one of the world's richest states. Mubarak, Sheikh Hamad and Sabah arrived in the UAE in the day for brief visits.
