China to Promote Online Library

The National Library of China (NLC) announced November 29 that it will promote an online library, providing readers with a convenient digital service.

The NLC and China Digital Library Co. Ltd. will install computerized equipment in major local libraries and libraries in the western region.

All libraries authorized by China Digital Library will use digitized information resources free of charge in the coming year.

The NLC will provide readers through the digital library with more than 2,000 foreign publications, as well as Chinese Buddhist Collection, the largest buddhist sutra.

The digital library contains over 53 million pages of information, covering economics, literature, history, medicine, industry, the military and law.

In April, the NLC initiated the China Digital Library, www.d-library.com.cn.
