Hong Kong Investors Develop Tourism at Qinghai Lake

Two companies from Hong Kong will invest 150 million yuan to develop tourism at Qinghai Lake, the biggest inland salt lake in China.

The funds will be used to build an Holiday Inn Hotel, a Safari, a hunting area and a sightseeing water route, according to an agreement signed on Sunday between Jipeng International Group and a civil aviation group from Hong Kong and local government department.

The project will begin March 2001 and be partially be opened to visitors in May. Jipeng Group will enjoy a 30-year franchise. An air route between Hong Kong and Xining will be opened soon for tourists to Qinghai Lake.

Jiang Jiemin, vice-governor of Qinghai, said Qinghai Province welcomes more businessmen from Hong Kong and Macao to invest in Qinghai and will promulgate more preferential measures to seek mutual benefit.
