India, Iraq Discuss Bilateral TiesIndia and Iraq on Tuesday discussed here a wide range of issues to give a new dimension to bilateral ties with focus on bolstering economic cooperation, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.This figured at a meeting between visiting Iraqi Vice President Taha Yassin Ramadhan and Indian External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh, said the PTI. Ramadhan, who arrived here with a 17-member delegation including Iraqi oil minister on Monday evening, is on a five-day official visit, the highest level one from Iraq to India in the past 25 years. This is part of "concerted efforts" by Baghdad and New Delhi to forge closer relationship, the PTI noted. During the visit, the two sides will sign a long-term cooperation agreement aimed at further consolidating bilateral ties, it said. A memorandum of understanding between the Confederation of Indian Industry and its Iraqi counterpart is also expected to be firmed up, it added.
