KFC Open's 400th Restaurant in China

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) opened a new restaurant at the Beijing Railway Station November 28, bringing the total number of KFC's in China to 400.

Scattered in more than 100 cities, KFC has set a record for fast-food chain development in China.

The first Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant opened on Qianmen Street in downtown Beijing in 1987. Since then, the number has quickly snowballed in parts of China. In Beijing alone, the number totals 50.

Sam Su, president of Tricon Global Restaurants Inc. (China), said at today's opening ceremony, "This is a great success. It not only manifests in the number of KFC shops, but in the quality of services." Su said his company will make increased efforts to make foreign snacks more adaptable to the taste of Chinese consumers.
