Sun Wen to Leave for US

Sun Wen to Leave for US
After setting her seal to a contract with the American Women Soccer Professional League Chinese top women soccer player Sun Wen will fly to the US this week.

Sources say that the US League has signed up with an authoritative doctor to cure Sun Wen's knee trouble and they will be responsible for a total of US$30,000 of her operation fees. Sun Wen will be permitted to play a recovering period for at least half a year.

Signed on November 26, the contract has its term of validity over the whole year of 2001 and both sides will have the right to extend the contact. In addition, Sun Wen will be permitted to take part in continent/world-class soccer matches on behalf of China and the 9th National Sports Meet of China on behalf of the Shanghai team coming year.

Sun and Gao Joined WUSA

After three Chinese women soccer players joined the Women's United Soccer Association on November 24, Sun Wen and Gao Hong, signed an one-year agreement with Lauren Gregg, the vice president of WUSA Players Personnel Sunday, November 26.

"This meant a new beginning and a new challenge for me," told Sun Wen. If everything goes smoothly, Sun is to go to the US for curing her injured knee.
