China to Tighten Relations with Africa

China will soon set up an executive committee to carry out specific cooperative plans formed during the China-Africa Cooperative Forum held in Beijing in October, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said Monday, November 27.

The committee, to be established as follow-up action to the Forum, will be jointly sponsored by the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation (MOFTEC) with support from relevant government departments, said Tang at Monday' s national meeting on working with Africa.

Shi Guangsheng, MOFTEC minister, expressed confidence in economic and trade cooperation with African countries, and outlined several major tasks in this regard.

According to him, China will continue to create easy access for African products entering China, including upgrading the service of its 11 investment, development and trade promotion centers in African countries.

China will encourage more enterprises to invest in Africa, and set up cooperative projects compatible to the situation in Africa. China will also encourage domestic enterprises to actively participate in infrastructure construction in African countries by promoting contracted labor service and construction projects.
