Senior Chinese Military Officer Meets Hungarian Guests

Xiong Guangkai, deputy chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Monday afternoon with a Hungarian military delegation led by Jeno Poda, senior military adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister's office.

Xiong briefed the guests on China's domestic situation, military development, and the Chinese government's principled position on the Taiwan issue.

He said that the Chinese people and the PLA hold friendly sentiment towards the Hungarian people and military, adding that he hopes the relations between the militaries of the two countries will continue to grow in the future.

Poda noted that mutual visits are conducive to the maintenance and development of military ties between the two countries. He said that Hungary wishes to expand exchanges with the Chinese people and the PLA.

On the Taiwan issue, Poda said that Hungary agrees with the " one-China" principle.
