China's Electronic Industry Reports Improved Performance

China's electronic industry witnessed a rapid output growth rate of 36 percent in the past ten months this year, according to the Ministry of Information.

During the period, the country's output of electronic products for investment use increased by 57.2 percent, while output of electronic products for consumption was up 10.8 percent, and output of components increased by 33 percent.

Except for TV sets, all other electronic products, such as mobile phones, video cassette recorders and micro-computers, enjoyed a big increase in terms of output.

In the past ten months, the country produced 5.4 million mobile phones, up 180 percent over the same period last year.

Foreign-funded companies still led the profit making in the industry while the state-owned sectors reported improved performance. In the January-October period, the state sector registered a 32.4 percent output increase.
