Two Officials Expelled from National Legislature

Two high-ranking local officials in north China's Hebei Province were expelled from the lawmaking National People's Congress (NPC) November 26 for economic crimes.

Cong Fukui, former executive deputy governor of Hebei Province, and Zhang Erchen, former mayor of the provincial capital city Shijiazhuang, were stripped of their positions as delegates to the NPC by the Standing Committee of the Hebei Provincial People's Congress.

Cong allegedly accepted bribes. Zhang is being investigated for major economic crimes.
