120 Chinese Young Teachers to Visit JapanA three-week visit to Japan is planned for 120 young Chinese teachers to promote friendshipbetween the two countries. Officials from the Chinese Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Japanese diplomats attended a send-off party for them on Saturday in Beijing. The teachers, from different secondary and primary schools across China, will start their visit on Sunday. The activity is organized by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Chinese Ministry of Education, to carry out a framework cooperation plan worked out by the two governments in 1998. During the visit, the teachers will attend seminars on Japan's history, culture and economy and go sightseeing in Tokyo and other parts of the country, said Sakurata Yoshihisa, JICA's resident representative in China. The Chinese teachers are also scheduled to live with Japanese families so they can get a better understanding of the daily lives of Japanese people and make efforts to build trust and friendship among the two nations, he said.
