Three Palestinians, Israeli Killed in Continued Violence

Despite an agreement reached Friday by Palestinian and Israeli leaders to resume security coordination, bloody clashes continued to rage in the Palestinian territories, killing three Palestinians and one Israeli.

A 22-year-old Palestinian was shot and killed in an exchange of fire between Israeli troops and Palestinians in the Rafah refugee camp in the south of the Gaza Strip.

Earlier in the day, a Palestinian boy, 14, was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in clashes on the outskirts of the northern West Bank town of Jenin.

Also a 20-year-old Palestinian was shot in the heart by Israeli forces near the northern West Bank town of Qalqilia.

Meanwhile, an Israeli was killed in the West Bank city of Nablus by an unknown Palestinian gunman, Israel Radio reported.

The radio also said that Israeli security forces arrested three activists in the day of the Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement in Nablus on suspicion of involvement in shooting attacks against Israeli targets.

In the past few days, 119 Palestinians were arrested by Israeli security forces on charges of throwing stones and Molotov bombs at Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, it added.

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak agreed during a phone conversation Friday afternoon to resume security coordination to reduce the violence, which has left more than 260 people dead, most of them Palestinians, since its eruption in late September.
