China for More Agricultural and Tourist Cooperation in E. Asia
Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji on Friday called for cooperation in agriculture and tourism among East Asian countries.
"East Asian countries are highly complementary to each other in agriculture," Zhu told leaders of the 10 ASEAN countries, Japan and South Korea. "The Chinese side hopes that the 10 + 3 Agricultural and Forestry Ministers Meeting will be held as soon as possible."
He offered to host an agricultural business forum in China, which China hopes would help set off the East Asia agricultural cooperation.
The premier also told East Asian leaders that tourism cooperation is an effective "China has listed Japan, the Republic of Korea and all ASEAN countries as its tourism cooperation partners," Zhu said. "The Chinese side hopes that all countries represented will mutually provide facilities and promote extensive personnel flow and exchanges among East Asian countries. This will serve to enhance our mutual understanding and trust."
