China To Launch Manned Spacecrafts in Two or Three Years

Professor Zhang Zhengpeng says the white paper objectively reflects the development of China's space industry since it started in 1956.

Professor Zhang Zhengpeng says after China launched its first man-made satellite in April 1970, it's made great progress not only in launching satillites, but also rockets. For example, the successful launch and recovery last year of the first unmanned experimental spacecraft 'Shenzhou'.

The professor says this symbolized a breakthrough in the fields of manned spaceflights.

Professor Zhang estimates that China will be able to launch manned spaceflights within two or three years.

He says China has also made great progress in space applications science, such as satellite remote-sensing and satellite telecom. These satellites have been widely utilized in many areas such as economy, science and technology,culture and national defense.

Zhang Zhengpeng says the short and long term targets set out in the White Paper are encouraging and will promote the speedy development of China's space industry.

He believes China has the ability to further explore space and achieve the targest set in the paper, with the help of a strong task force team.
