Ten Outstanding Chinese Women Rewarded

A ceremony was held November 24 to grant the title of "Outstanding Chinese Woman" to 10 Chinese women, including army and police officers, entrepreneurs, medical experts and an educator.

Present at the ceremony, which was held at the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing, were Peng Peiyun, a vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and Qian Zhengying, a vice chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.

These meritorious women are the third group of the prize-winners selected by the All-China Women's Federation and the Beijing-based media since 1995.

Gu Xiulian, a vice chairperson of the federation and the first secretary of the federation's secretariat, addressed the gathering, calling on all Chinese women to learn from this outstanding group.

Ten Most Outstanding Women Selected

China's first female masters student Zhang Ke majored in combat command from the People's Liberation Army with other nine women were awarded as the ten most outstanding women.

The award, the third time it has been granted in the country, was cosponsored by the All-China Women's Federation and 11 leading media organizations in China.
