Guangdong Province to Build Information Industrial Corridor

South China's Guangdong Province, one of the most developed areas in the country, will build an information industrial corridor in the Pearl River Delta during the 2001-2005 period.

The corridor will focus on information technology in a move to promote the development of traditional industries. The province has designated the information industry as a pace-setting and priority industry with Sehnzhen and Guangzhou as the leaders.

The provincial capital of Guangzhou will stress software development, Shenzhen, a special economic zone, will prioritize high technology, and Dongguan will try to build itself into the world's largest computer production center.
