P&W Becomes Air China's Long-Term Engines Maintainer

Air China has signed a long-term agreement with Pratt&Whitney for the maintenance of the airlines' JT9D-7R4 engines.

Based on the agreement, P&W will provide maintenance and overhaul services for Air China for a five-year period. The total value of the agreement is estimated to exceed US$50 million.

Air China is China's national flag carrier, and is also the largest operator of P&W engines in China. In addition to Boeing 747-200 and 767-200 aircraft, Air China's aircraft fleet includes Boeing 747-400, 767-300 and 777-200.

"The signing of the long-term agreement confirms that the long-term cooperation between Air China and P&W will be expanded to include engine services, this is a significant new phase in our partnership," said Lyman Marshall, president of P&W China.
