Scientists Find New Location for Mutation Gene in Hereditary Nephritis

Chinese scientists recently announced that they have found a new location for the mutation gene in hereditary nephritis which has not yet been recorded in the international gene data base.

Pan Xiaoxia, physician-in-charge with the Ruijin Hospital in Shanghai, and her group obtained the results after studying the largest group of family hereditary nephritis patients in China.

After a surveying about 530 nephritis patients around the country over the past decade, scientists discovered a new location for the mutation gene in a patient that accords with that in his mother and his brother.

Experts pointed out that the results, already examined through authoritative agencies, have paved way for finally revealing the molecular mechanism leading to nephritis.

Research on hereditary nephritis has become an important aspect on the study of kidney diseases.
