China's CAE, Hubei Join Hands in Photoelectron Industry

The Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Hubei Province signed an agreement November 22 to cooperate with each other in developing photoelectron technology.

According to the agreement, the two will appoint a coordination committee and set up a Hubei CAE Consultancy Center to promote the development of the photoelectron industry in Hubei.

Song Jian, president of CAE and vice-chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, will act as a senior consultant for the coordination committee.

As the location of China's "photics valley," Wuhan, capitalcity of Hubei, has become one of the most important research and development bases for China's photoelectron industry.

There are 23 universities and 56 research institutes in Wuhan, attracting 42 academicians, including 10 photoelectron scientists.

Photoelectronic Industrial Park

The Changchun Photoelectronic Industrial Park, the first of its kind in China, was established on June 9 in the Changchun High and New Technology Development Zone.

The park will attract home and overseas photoelectrons producers to establish factories or branches. The products are expected to cover laser and applied products, photoelectron medical apparatus, photoelectron testing apparatus and optical instruments, according to local sources.
