Palestinian Authority Denies Involvement in Israel's Car Bombing

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) November 22 denied any involvement in a car bombing attack in northern Israeli city of Hadera, which killed at least two people.

The PNA has nothing to do with the Hadera car bombing and totally rejects the accusation made by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, a PNA official said in Gaza.

The emergency center set up in Hadera after the bombing said that two people were killed and 35 others wounded when a powerful car bomb exploded near a bus in the rush hour.

Among the wounded, four are in critical condition and one of them has been moved to a hospital in Haifa for treatment, the center said.

Barak condemned the car bombing as "another barbaric attack against innocent civilians."

"The Palestinian Authority is totally responsible for the attack (due to its) releasing Hamas and Islamic Jihad (Holy War) members, encouraging them, guiding their people to carry out terror attacks," Barak said.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. But Israeli security said the explosion had "all the hallmarks of an attack by Hamas," or the Islamic Resistance Movement.

"The state of Israel will settle accounts with the perpetrators and those sending them," Barak added.

He is to hold an emergency cabinet meeting later Wednesday to discuss the situation.

The explosion occurred at around 17:30 pm (15:30 GMT) in Hanasi Street, a main street in Hadera, which lies between the coastal cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa, and a number of shops have been damaged, Israeli police said.
