Chinese-Filipino Assumes Top Philippine Navy Post
Chinese-Filipino Rear Admiral Guillermo Wong assumed late Wednesday afternoon the command of the Philippine Navy following the mandatory retirement of Vice Admiral Luisito Fernandez, Philippine News Agency (PNA) said.
A product of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1969, Wong will spearhead the Navy until December next year when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56, the PNA noted.
A second generation Chinese-Filipino with paternal roots in China,Wong holds a degree in industrial engineering from the University of the Philippines and a master's degree in National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines.
Wong was Navy Vice Commander from June 1, 2000 until his appointment as Flag Officer-in-Command.
