Premier Zhu Rongji left Beijing on November 23 to attend the informal leadership meeting between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ASEAN plus Three Summit), and the informal leadership meeting between ASEAN and China (ASEAN plus One Summit) in Singapore from November 24 to 25.

Premier Zhu will also hold informal trilateral meetings with leaders of Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to exchange views on cooperation among the three nations as well as with ASEAN, official sources said.

Premier to Attend ASEAN Summits

Premier Zhu Rongji will attend the informal leadership meeting between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ASEAN plus Three Summit), and the informal leadership meeting between ASEAN and China (ASEAN plus One Summit) in Singapore from November 24 to 25.

Premier Zhu will hold informal trilateral meetings with leaders of Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) to exchange views on cooperation among the three nations as well as with ASEAN, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao said at a regular press conference November 9 in Beijing.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok by the five original Member Countries, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined on 8 January 1984, Vietnam on 28 July 1995, Laos and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999.
